Sequestration cuts will not ground the St. Cloud Air Show!
ST. CLOUD, MN (Tuesday, February 26, 2013) As congressional leaders debate the budget, it is becoming apparent that the budget cuts to the military might include an end to non-essential flying including air show performances. This would include the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and single-ship tactical demo teams.
To the St. Cloud Air Show, (Saturday and Sunday, July 20th and 21st, 2013) it means the show will go on and up in the air with 12 additional civilian acts that will be sure to thrill and excite every adult and child who attends. In addition to these acts, there will be many on-the-ground statics that will fascinate, delicious food and great family activities that include free inflatable fun for the kids, bungee jumping and wall climbing.
“No doubt The Blue Angels are a great show-stopping act and, if Congress doesn't come together on a budget, they will be missed,” says Chris Chapman, Air Show Director. “But we are so much more than the Blue Angels. With all the other acts signed and ready to fly, the St. Cloud Air Show will definitely be a show that will thrill everyone and be remembered for years!”
“We are optimistic that Congress will avert this budget crisis and the Blue Angels, the Raptor and the F/A-18 Tac Demo Team will be in attendance in July,” commented Jill Magelssen, St. Cloud Air Show Chairwoman. “It would be unfortunate if the St. Cloud Air Show, not to mention all the other air shows across the country, would miss out on these outstanding military acts if the Sequestration cuts are implemented.”
“As of right now, and until we hear differently, the St. Cloud Air Show still includes the Blue Angels, the F/A-18 Tac Demo Team and the Raptor, “said Dave Trehey, Scout Executive of the Central Minnesota Council of Boy Scouts. “Either way, The Central Minnesota Council of Boy Scouts is prepared, as scouts should be, for a great summer family event with hundreds of boy scouts participating and benefiting from this show.”
